If you buy thin fabric at $0.05 per square foot and swap it every 3 years, you spend more over a decade than someone who buys nursery-grade at $0.15 to $0.25 once. The heavy product takes abuse that would shred thin fabric in one season. It also comes in wider rolls, often 6 to 15 feet across. Fewer seams means fewer gaps for weeds to sneak through.

This heavy-duty product fits your yard in a few specific ways. Use it under gravel driveways, between raised bed rows, or in any area with heavy foot traffic. Don't buy it for flower beds where you plan to cut planting holes. The same strength that makes it great for walkways makes it a poor choice where your plant roots need room to spread through the soil underneath.
